Challenges

Under the impact of the Đổi Mới reforms since 1986, Vietnam's economy entered a period of strong growth, driving the rapid expansion of the fashion retail sector. Canifa, a pioneering brand in this field, was founded in Hanoi with the vision of providing "Fashion for Everyone." The company quickly expanded and established itself as one of the leading fashion retailers in Vietnam.

In its early days, Canifa operated with multiple separate management software systems, facing increasing challenges in data synchronization and process optimization. To address the growing complexity of its business operations, the company decided to implement SAP software in 2015, aiming to integrate warehouse management, production, and accounting processes. This system was seen as a crucial transformation, replacing previous manual management methods that relied on Excel and paper-based processes.

However, despite the lengthy implementation period, SAP did not deliver the expected results. The company encountered inefficiencies in stock management, profit optimization, and system operations. Moreover, limited customization capabilities and high operating costs made it difficult for Canifa to adapt to Vietnam's rapidly evolving market. System modifications often took too long or were impossible to implement, significantly reducing operational efficiency.

The biggest challenge Canifa faced was the excessive cost of maintaining the SAP system. With a workforce of over 1,000 employees, expenses quickly spiraled out of control, becoming a major financial burden. Additionally, the POS system operated independently, the website ran on the Magento platform, and the company lacked effective software for production management, leading to a lack of connectivity between departments.

Solution

Facing the limitations of its existing software and rising operational costs, Canifa sought a more optimized solution. This led to a collaboration with Trobz to transition to Odoo, a modern ERP system tailored to the company’s specific needs.

Trobz carried out a thorough consulting phase, bringing together a team of analysts and project managers to develop a clear and effective implementation roadmap. Over six months, under the leadership of CEO Bui Ngoc Tu, the project was carefully executed, ensuring a smooth and successful transition.

Results

The project was officially launched in May 2017 with a flexible, phased approach. Within just a few weeks, Canifa employees began using the system and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. They found the system intuitive and efficient, significantly boosting productivity.

The transition to Odoo fueled Canifa’s remarkable growth. By 2017, the company had expanded to over 150 stores, operated two manufacturing plants, and successfully exported products internationally. By 2018, the system was managing over 35,000 SKUs and processing more than 30,000 transactions daily. The impact of ERP on sales performance was impressive, contributing to record-breaking growth.

Mr. Sơn, co-founder of Canifa, shared: "As CIO, I always wanted Canifa to have the best ERP solution available. We tried SAP, the market leader, but found it too rigid and costly for the Vietnamese market. Working with Trobz was a breath of fresh air—they quickly understood our needs and built an efficient IT ecosystem."

This collaboration not only helped Canifa optimize its operations but also laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive market.
