About the Client

Irrawaddy Green Towers (IGT) is a telecommunications infrastructure provider established in Myanmar in early 2014, when the country opened its economy and major international telecom operators began operating there. As a tower company (TowerCo), IGT builds telecom towers, installs antennas and leases shared passive infrastructure to mobile network operators, together with energy solutions for their sites; it does not provide telecom services to end users. In 2014, IGT planned 1,500 towers to build and rent, backed by a 65 million dollar investment over six months. Its board and founders are citizens of Canada, India and the United States, and the team has deployed more than 100,000 telecom towers worldwide.

The Challenge

Rapid Growth While Building the Company

IGT set a startup-like growth path on an unusually large scale. Its workforce expanded dramatically within a few months, and projects started from day one, so the company had to keep operating while building its management system from scratch. Without a well-structured system, it risked losing control over timelines and costs.

Disconnected Applications and Limited Standard Modules

Construction was managed in Tarantula and energy consumption monitored in RMS, but neither was integrated with the company's overall processes, which led to inconsistent data and delays in reporting and decisions. Procurement lacked transparency, warehouse asset management was inefficient, payroll and HR policies grew harder to manage as headcount rose, and accounting offered little automation for cash flow and cost control per project.

Framework Contracts Without Automated Billing

IGT's revenue depends on complex framework contracts, but there was no automated system to calculate revenue and issue invoices. Calculations took time, data discrepancies were likely, and reconciling revenue with costs was difficult.

Why Odoo & Trobz

IGT set out to build a dedicated management platform for its tower leasing business on Odoo. The approach was to define and standardize business workflows, customize the standard ERP modules, connect Tarantula and RMS, and develop specialized modules for the TowerCo model, with user training and ongoing support along the way.

Results

IGT grew from 10 to 350 employees within its first year, while its processes were defined and automated in Odoo.
Construction and energy monitoring data from Tarantula and RMS were synchronized with Odoo in real time.
Invoicing from framework contracts was automated, and costs were tracked per tower.
