base_location_geonames_import

Purpose

Imports cities and postal codes from the Geonames database into Odoo location data via a guided wizard that can also clean up outdated entries.

Features

contacts: Wizard under Contacts configuration downloads Geonames city and zip data for chosen countries, creates missing states/cities/postal codes, and removes entries no longer present.
city.zip.geonames.import: Lets users pick target countries and enforce unchanged, title case, or upper-case formatting for imported city and state names before creation.
res.country: Stores the column positions for Geonames state name and code to adapt parsing for each country, with defaults provided for Spain and Italy.
configuration: The Geonames download URL can be overridden through the geonames.url system parameter.
security: Access to the Geonames import wizard is limited to Administration/Settings users.
