This guide walks through connecting Odoo to Facebook using the **OAuth flow via a Facebook App** — the standard method that uses an App ID and App Secret. It's the easier of the two connection methods, suitable for most use cases where a Facebook user with admin access is available.

If you need a server-to-server connection without a tied user account, see the [System User Token guide]({{< surl >}}/insights/odoo-facebook-connect-system-user-token) instead.

---

## Prerequisites

- A Meta developer account at [developers.facebook.com](https://developers.facebook.com/)
- Admin access to the Facebook Page(s) you want to manage
- An Odoo instance with a publicly accessible URL (required for the OAuth redirect)

---

## Step 1 — Create a Facebook App

**1.1** Go to [developers.facebook.com](https://developers.facebook.com/) and log in.

**1.2** Click **My Apps** → **Create App**.

**1.3** For use case, select **Other**.

**1.4** For app type, select **Business**.

**1.5** Fill in the app name and contact email, select your **Business Portfolio**, then click **Create app**.

## Step 2 — Add Facebook Login for Business

**2.1** Inside your newly created app, go to **Add product** in the sidebar.

**2.2** Scroll down and click **Set up** next to **Facebook Login for Business**.

**2.3** Go to **Settings** under the Facebook Login for Business product.

**2.4** In the **Valid OAuth Redirect URIs** field, add:

```
<your-odoo-url>/facebook/callback
```

Press **Enter**, save changes, then verify your URI using the **Redirect URI Validator**.

## Step 3 — Configure App Settings

**3.1** Go to **App Settings** → **Basic** in the sidebar.

**3.2** Fill in the required fields for your app (display name, privacy policy URL, etc.).

**3.3** Once ready, toggle your app from **Development** to **Live** mode. This is required for the OAuth flow to work with real users and pages.

## Step 4 — Connect in Odoo

**4.1** In Odoo, go to **Apps** and install:
- `social_media_base`
- `social_media_facebook`

**4.2** Navigate to **Social Media → Dashboard** and click **Add account**.

**4.3** Copy the **App ID** and **App Secret** from **App Settings → Basic** in Meta Developers, and paste them into the Odoo connection form. Click **Associate**.

**4.4** A Facebook authorization window will open. Select the Pages and Businesses you want to grant access to.

**4.5** Review the requested permissions and confirm.

**4.6** Select the specific Pages you want to manage in Odoo.

---

## What's Next

Once connected, your Facebook Pages appear on the **Social Media Dashboard**. From there you can:

- Create and publish posts directly to one or multiple pages
- Schedule posts for a future date and time
- Attach images or videos to posts
- View and reply to comments from within Odoo
- Monitor post performance metrics (impressions, engagement)

To manage connected accounts later, go to **Social Media → Configuration → Social Accounts** and select the relevant Page.
